인도의 詩聖 라빈드라나드 타고르의 기도문

 

라빈드라나드 타고르의 기도문    위험으로부터 벗어나게 해 달라고 기도하지 말고 위험에 용감히 맞설 수 있게 해 달라고 기도하게 하소서.   고통을 가라앉게 해 달라고 기도하지 말고 고통을 이겨내는 마음을 청할 수 있게 하소서.   인생이라는 싸움터에서 아군을 찾지 말고 스스로의 힘을 찾아낼 수 있게 하소서.   불안과 두려움 속에서 구원을 갈망하지 말고 자유를 쟁취하는 인내심을 갖게 하소서.   성공 속에서만 당신의 은혜를 느끼는 비겁한 자가 아니라, 실의에 빠졌을 때야말로 당신의 귀하신 손을 잡고 있음을 알아채게 주소서.     Grant me- Rabindranath Tagore   Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers but to be fearless in facing them.   Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain but for the heart to conquer it.   Let me not look for allies in life's battlefield but to my own strength.   Let me not care in anxious fear to be saved but hope for the patience to win my freedom.   Grant me that I may not be a coward,   feeling your mercy in my success alone; but let me find the grasp of your hand in my failure.
